Service Committees

“Without committees, it is doubtful that any Conference would be able to function effectively. Most questions suggested for the Conference agenda are assigned to a committee, where items can be discussed in a small group before they are forwarded for discussion to the full Conference body.”

Throughout Alcoholics Anonymous—and certainly in District 8, Area 1—we have developed a structure of service committees to enable us to more effectively carry A.A.’s message of recovery. In District 8 our Service Committees work in small groups to develop plans of action to carry the message to the still-suffering alcoholic. Where greater guidance and/or financial support is required, the committees come together at the monthly District 8 meeting for full discussion and final decision by the groups.
